He inquired as to where she had learned Cabal tactics and learned from her that she had fought on the frontlines of the Red War, witnessing the Cabal slaughter defenseless civilians and Lightless Guardians. Crow was taken aback by the conflict, having little knowledge of it, and couldn't understand why the Cabal continued to fight even after losing their leader, Dominus Ghaul, to the Traveler. There's something special about being the one in your friend group who introduces your non-video-game-playing friends to a brand-new game. That was the case for a lot of people with Destiny 2. The game's hype peaked just before its release, and many people who wouldn't normally pick up a first-person shooter were enticed by the promise of a co-op experience.
The pitch is basically "2D Max Payne, but even crazier." There's a generous bullet time meter, and physics has been bribed to look the other way as you flip and pirouette your way through levels, dominating bad guys with bullets and occasionally frying pans. The frying pans can also be used to ricochet bullets off of, allowing for the fantastic possibility of throwing one up in the air, slowing time, pinging a few bullets off it into bad guys, then kicking the frypan out of the air and into a final enemy's face just as time spools back up. There are also skateboarding and motorcycle chases, as well as dual-wielding, which allows you to lock onto separate targets with each gun. The best part is that there's a built-in capture mode that saves your best moments in each level and lets you upload them as a gif, similar to Opus Magnum but with more slow-motion headshots. When this game is released next year, Twitter will be transformed into a parade of illogical violence.
