Eun has recreated the three Vanguard commanders Cayde-6 the Hunter, Ikora the Warlock, and Zavala the Titan as Pikachus, as Game Informer discovered, and the results are stunning. I've given them the names Pikayde-6, Ikachu, and Pikala, but I'm open to suggestions. So, there was some debate. But not on Pikala. I'm not going to budge on that one. The concept is instantly appealing, but it's the little touches in Eun's artwork that sell the incongruous pairing. Pikayde-6 is eating Cayde's favorite spicy ramen, while Ikachu is reading as usual (we know it's a female Pikachu since Eun got the heart-shaped tail correct). Meanwhile, Zavala, the Tower's no-nonsense, tough-as-nails, Cabal-smashing chief, is knitting. Zavala is a knitter. I'm not joking; in both Destiny 1 and Destiny 2, gamers have discovered knitting and/or crochet materials in his Tower offices. After a long day of fighting the Cabal on Mars, sometimes you just need to relax with some rhythmic handicraft. It is something I respect.
"The worst-case scenario is that you die, but who knows, maybe you won't."
Cayde-6 found herself in an unusual circumstance during the Guardians' first effort to recapture the Moon from the Hive. He sought refuge beneath a destroyed jumpship as he retreated from overwhelming Hive soldiers, only to learn that a Fallen Baroness was also there. Because they shared an adversary, they decided not to murder each other and instead proceeded to combat the Hive. Cayde returned to the wrecked ship after most of the Hive had been destroyed, only to discover the Baroness terminally wounded. He was eventually obliged to murder her.
