I'm creating this analysis in response to other users' critical feedback. I also loved a couple other people's information about the game's transfer from Japanese to North American release. The SatAM world, to which this film is sometimes likened, was a fantastic effort, particularly given its cohesiveness and startlingly well-constructed cosmos. However, the SatAM and, by extension, the Archie Sonic Comics were fantastic but unrelated to the video game franchise.
The valiant blue knight has returned! And this time, it's not just for fun and games. That's right, Sonic the Hedgehog is starring in his own film, complete with all of Sonic's fast-paced energy and action-packed thrill! Look at this: Dr. Robotnik, Sonic's arch-nemesis, has been expelled from the Land of Darkness by an evil Metal Robotnik. As if that weren't awful enough, the malicious doctor informs Sonic that the Robot Generator has been sabotaged and will destroy Planet Freedom. But what could possible compel Sonic to believe his deadliest enemy? What could have compelled him to jeopardize his life and paw? Certainly not Dr. Robotnik's remarks. Not even the President's pleadings were heard. Sonic doesn't take action until the President's lovely daughter Sara puts on the charm. Is Sara really in love with Sonic, or is she smitten with the new kid on the block, the never-before-seen Hyper Metal Sonic? Metal Sonic's most recent appearance is in LEGO Dimensions, especially its Sonic Dimensions extension. He appears briefly with his siblings, Sonic 2's Robo Sonic and Sonic 3 & Knuckles' Mecha Sonic. Metal is the final of the three to be faced, and Eggman brags about being called from another universe where he has previously defeated Sonic! That deed, however, could not be repeated, and Sonic prevailed once again. Metal Sonic does not appear in every game, and it is unknown if he will appear in Sonic Mania, Sonic Forces, or Sonic Runners Adventure (though I expect him to in the former two). Regardless, he'll return for another round with the biological being he's patterned after.
