Scream, Wes Craven's iconic horror film series, is the world's top earning slasher film because it combines two extremely improbable categories: horror and comedy! Who can forget Deputy Dewey making jokes in the thick of the pandemonium, or news reporter Gayle Weathers' hilarious one-liners? The combination of comic relief and seeing a knife-wielding Ghostface slaughter a slew of innocent youngsters with the aid of his butcher knife, face mask, and, of course, voice changer is what made these horror flicks classics. There's also the excitement of attempting to figure out who Ghostface is since the killer changes with each film.
