I suggest E6000 glue for this project. It's a fantastic craft glue that will stick practically anything. E6000 dries very clear. It is truly waterproof and dishwashing safe after it has hardened. It is highly recommended by many Perler Bead artists I know. You could probably use hot glue, but I didn't because I was concerned the connection would be too weak.
