Titans almost wiped off mankind some hundred years ago. A tiny proportion of mankind survived by walling themselves in a city surrounded by walls higher than the tallest of giants. In the modern day, the city has not seen a giant in over a century. Eren, a teen, and his foster sister Mikasa see something horrifying when one of the city walls is destroyed by a 60-meter-tall monster, creating a hole in the wall. As the lesser giants invade the city, the two children watch in horror as Eren's mother is devoured.
